The push and pull of the emotions between the characters is so much fun and they each scheme in their own way to accomplish their goals. The sexual encounters are spontaneous and sensual and Ms. Vane has a way of wrapping you up in each moment.

This was an exceptional work of historical fiction by Victoria Vane and I can also admit that I was extremely entertained by the author’s dialogue between the main characters, Marcus and Lydia. Within the novella, the author manages to give us a bit of plot, spicy scenes and likable secondary characters, which helps to build more appeal to the main characters and storyline.

While this story may be brief, overall, A BREACH OF PROMISE has everything you could want and more.

A Breach of Promise is a deviously delicious read. Ms. Vane has written an historical romance that is erotic and witty, emotional and sexy. Her characters, whose chemistry cannot be denied, play a mental game of chess and both end up winning.

…So the battle begins between these two very-like minded and intelligent characters. Marcus’s mom, hands down, is my favorite character. She is the master manipulator throughout this story! But the interactions between the characters are completely entertaining! And the sex scenes? Completely red hot! I love my books with some spice, and this little historical romance is actually hot! This book was very detailed and flowed quite beautifully from start to finish. Mrs. Vane, you have captured my attention and I look forward to reading more of your books!! I have been entirely seduced by your Breach of Promise!!
A talented and skilled author who knows her plot and how to create tasteful sexy scenes. This isn’t a story focused on the sexual acts between the characters, but much more, a story about the hero and heroine’s life. She’s created a novella with a lot of depth, and it’s only her debut title! I expect great things to come from Victoria Vane!

This story was quite the surprise. With erotic historical romance you don’t really expect much in the way of deep plot and characterizations, the emphasis being much more on the sex scenes. Let alone one rich in historical detail. But this short story delivered much more than the expected sex fest. Set in the Georgian era with the background of the peace congress of 1748, author Victoria Vane has delivered a story with historical richness yet one that does not overwhelm the romance nor the delectable love scenes. This beautifully written novella has it all. Historical depth, romance, lush love scenes and gorgeous prose befitting the era. Highly recommended.

And even though this story has it all, I was left wanting for more!
What’s not to enjoy when passion,sensuality,trust,mistrust,possible ruin,rich historical romance and love. This is the story of Marcus,Lord Russell and Lydia Trent. Lydia betrothed at seventeen to a reluctant groom to be finds one night of ecstasy is might be enough,but after six long years,ecstary is no longer enough. A fast paced,quick read. You will not regret “A Breach of Promise”. It has hot steamy passion,and forgiveness as well as love and romance. A must read for anyone who enjoys historical romance,erotic romance,or a quick fun read that will leave you in awe.
It’s cute, witty, and the sex is very erotic. I also learned a lot of new words, thus it was somewhat like Heyer. However, the real and very dead Heyer used as many complicated and head scratching words as possible in one sentence. Vane just throws in one per page. I also learned new things to call the female anatomy. LOL. Favorite quote: “To my understanding a man can perform the animal act of coition in virtually any circumstance without emotional engagement of any kind.” *snort*
AT HOME WITH A GOOD BOOK AND THE CAT:
Full disclosure, erotica is not a genre I’ve read and while I knew full well going into this what to expect I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not, but I was pleasantly surprised. First off we get a Georgian setting instead of the ubiquitous Regency (they are so old). Second, we get a story with characters that are not just wall-paper window dressing. Third, we get a heroine that not only isn’t TSTL (too stupid to live), she’s not one with 21C morals and mindsets. Thank you Ms. Vane for not insulting the reader’s intelligence. All in all, this novella was a quick, entertaining and seriously steamy read. I hope to see more from Ms. Vane in the future. 4/5 stars.
Victoria Vane pens down a delightful and fun novella about a reunion and second chances… for a short novel, it was just down right fun to see two strong willed people, duel in a battle of wits and wills and the winning in the game of love! 4 of 5 STARS
